Evaluation of module 1 ‘Understanding the Role of a Nanny’:

This was new way to experience training, online via a video meeting with nannytraininglink owner and trainer, Margaret Cowell. Although I would have liked to have had others’ opinions as part of this training, the one-to-one experience didn’t make it any less valuable or informative. Indeed, I really appreciated being able to sit comfortably in my spare bedroom with a cup of tea to receive such clear and concise training!

I am a relatively new nanny working for parents who are also new to employing a nanny. Six months into the role I suddenly became aware of the need to formalise my profession as a nanny in order to document my continuing professional development. Although a mother and professional childcare worker with many years previous experience working with young children, I gained huge benefit from the good practice tips and ideas for working in the nanny role, all of which I can now implement to improve on my practice.

The module covers confidentiality, conduct and communication as well as information about data protection relevant to nannies. I left this first session feeling positively empowered as a professional and would highly recommend it to anyone considering becoming a nanny and/or looking to enhance their professional development.
